string in the list is always a path here; content and streams go through a source.
A file with a valid precompiled image next to it (<name>.ndjson.gz, the catalog ships one
for every nodeset) is replayed from the image, with nothing to configure. With imageStore,
a file without one is hashed and its image replayed when the store has it, written
otherwise; true selects the per-user file store (FileNodesetImageStore).
imageStore: false disables the sibling images too and streams the XML, for tests and for
bisecting. The documents load in dependency order whatever the order given; a model one of
them requires may also be one the address space holds already, from an earlier call.
